This is my mock up of our film poster. We decided on the location because of the surroundings and the urban setting fits in with the conventions of this genre. Photoshop allowed us to darken and saturate the colour of the images to create this dreary, depressing scene. We decided on our fonts and used dafont.com to see how this font type would work against the film poster. As a group we are happy with the font although we have decided to experiment more with colour and the tagline both in its positioning and font. This is a basic idea in the layout of our film poster, however we have decided that a different location may work more effectively but overall we agreed that the body language of the characters and the information given works well.

Mock up of Magazine Front Cover
This is my mock up for our magazine front cover, each group member produced their own mock up and then we will use ideas from each to create our final front cover. We have chosen the font type and image already. We decided on this mid shot of our main character and will be using this for our final magazine front cover too, we decided on this one because it shows the gun and suggests the genre, we also thought that the image is slightly intimidating similar to that of Adulthood's film poster with the gang which is what we have tried to recreate here. Also you have the idea of the character being front on to the audience in a direct manner which is typical of a film magazine front cover according to Empire and Total Film, whose front covers I previously analysed. The fonts I used were from dafont.com and I tested the possible fonts from our font test to see which works best. I used Photoshop to design this cover and used this task as a practice for when we come to produce our final front cover. I like the use of the arrow because of the magazine title, however next time I might experiment with its placement. The use of graffiti like writing is used as a connotation of the gangs that our a convention within this genre. Overall I think we could develop this mock up further and the cover lines and featured articles I have chosen are not the ones we will be using on our final magazine this is just to give an idea of where we might choose to place these.

Shooting Schedule For Photography
We decided to do some test shots in the studio of just our main character and then a location shoot with our main character in the foreground and the two muggers in the background. We want to follow the conventions used in the film poster for 'Adulthood', by taking into account the dark lighting, location and positioning of the characters. We will need to book the studio out and work around when our actors are available to do both shoots.

Magazine design layout analysis
I found this article in Media magazine, it gives an analysis on page layout and design and some of the points made can be used for when we come to design and create our own layout for both ancillary products of the film poster and magazine front cover. Me and Ellie made notes on the information given and it has helped us understand the best approach when we come to do the construction of our products.

Selected Magazine Font
The title font that we have selected for our magazine front cover is a graffati typography. I thought that with the connotation of gang culture being a major part within this genre that this is the right angle to appeal to our target audience. The magazine needs to have the same audience as our film therefore the typography, imagery, and content has to be similar.

Magazine Font Test
Our magazine title will be 'Follow Up' and I have conducted a series of font tests to see which ones will fit in with our genre of film and appeal to our target audience. The genre of the magazine has to be similar of that of our film in order for the promotion and advertising of our film to be a success.

Conventions: Gun Crime
Gun crime is a reoccurring theme throughout and is a key convention to our genre. The screen grabs above are from the teaser trailers of 4, 3, 2, 1 and 1Day, as you can see in 1Day the actor is wearing a tracksuit which follows the connotations of the type of character being portrayed here. The first shot is a mid shot and is fairly powerful because it challenges the codes and conventions because she doesn't fit the profile of a gang member or stereotypically character to be using a gun. In our teaser trailer and possible for the ancillary tasks a gun will be necessary for both our storyline and genre. Social realist drama has to portray the sense of realism which is why the majority of these stories are set around real life statistics.

Selected Title Font
The title font that we have selected for our film is a font that closely resembles films under a the same genre. The distorted font will create an edgy feel to the poster and also a sense of tension and unease which is what we need to create. The idea of a gang, drugs, guns and fights creates unease amongst people anyway so the distorted writing and cracked edges around the letters will hopefully emphasis this.

Animatic Storyboard
My group and I decided to create an animatic storyboard on final cut this includes our track, idea of sequence and any narrative we decide to use. We are using this along with our storyboard as our guideline for when we come to film and edit our final trailer. Already we agreed that it works better with fading and smoother transitions to keep the flow of the trailer. Also by adding certain sound effects and dropping the track in certain places it has allowed us to see where we want to make changes and allowed us to know when the title cards work best.

Music Selection
In our teaser trailer we have focused on non-diegetic music. Tim and his friend who does music production created the soundtrack to our trailer using Logic Pro. The track was made by Johnny Spence along with guidance of Tim, we knew what type of music we needed for our genre through our research. Suspense has been created through the music with the pace slowing down at the start and then as Steon gets into trouble it speeds up and the music gets louder. Tim had permission to the rights to the music and I believe the final outcome works with the continuity of the trailer and brings an element of suspense excitment and drama which is what we were set out to achieve.

Police Liason
We had to contact the police station in Leamington to ask if we could use a toy gun during our filming for Friday 19th November, this was so that we don't cause any unecessary trouble and so the police were aware of the situation. They needed the time, location and number of people involved and gave us an incident number for if we had any further questions.
- Incident number: 215 16/11/10
